A GULF COAST TRADITION FOR OVER 40 YEARSA favorite with the locals since 1974, The Back Porch Seafood & Oyster House in Destin got started in a small A-frame building on the beach (pictured above). We instantly made a name for ourselves by serving delicious Gulf seafood with the best Gulf views. A few years later, we invented the Amberjack sandwich, and the rest is history.

The restaurant’s menu features delicious casual fare and an array of creative cocktails. The salads include Seafood Cobb Salad and Fresh Catch Salad. 1940Whether it was the one of the last stops before shipping out or first when they came home, troops would muster at the bar to bolster their spirits for one more “last call’. They stayed true to their core values of responsibility – Duty, Honor, Country – and some fun.
1985Acme had seen some unkind years with the flight to the suburbs and the explosion of “fast food” at every corner. Hours were short and the staff was small. New Orleanian Mike Rodrigue was most fortunate to have the opportunity to awaken this sleeping giant! the legend of Jackacuda'sWith the largest fishing vessel fleet in the state of Florida, Destin is branded the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village. Along with that title comes all the legendary fish tales, fishing lingo and secret fishing holes, some widely known and others secretly kept. Every great ‘Honey Hole’ has a story, and this is the story of Jackacudas. During the mid 1980’s the Tenaco 80 was dropped to create an artificial reef in the Gulf of Mexico and quickly became the spot to catch monster amberjacks.
A decade later, legendary Destin Charter Boat Captain Dale Beebe set out to catch the celebrated monster amberjacks, but all they caught that summer day were barracuda. Barracuda have a way of putting on a spectacle and the fish jumped in and out of the water delivering a show for all that were on the boat. On his way back from the trip, surrounding local Captains jumped on the radio to see how Captain Beebe and his response was “All I caught today were Jackacudas!” From that day forward the Teneco 80 spot was reborn as the Jackacudas Spot!
